Lay-Day Activities in Australia’s South West

Please book your tours independently by August 31st 2001. If minimum number not reached (where indicated), the tour may not proceed.

Both full day and half day tours can either be booked through Ultimate Tours (ph 9791 6887) or Bunbury Visitor Information Centre (ph 9721 7922). If booking one of these tours, please indicate that you are attending the ASFB Workshop/Conference in Bunbury.

Full Day Tours (Minimum Number: 15 Maximum Number: 44)

Whales & Dolphins Tour $143 per person

Departs 8.45 am, returns approximately 5.00 pm.

Travel south to Dunsborough in air-conditioned comfort, taking in the sights on the way through the South West Coastal Region. Meet up with the friendly crew of the Naturaliste Lady for an exciting trip watching the majestic whales in the Indian Ocean. After light refreshments on board head north to Bunbury for lunch before enjoying a unique ocean cruise with the wild bottlenose dolphins in Bunbury’s Koombana Bay. Find out more about the dolphins in the Dolphin Discovery Centre, and have afternoon tea to round off the day.

Wine Cheese and Chocolates $80.50 per person

Departs 9.00 am, returns approximately 5.30 pm.

Travel in air-conditioned comfort with Ultimate Tours to the world famous Margaret River wine region. Visit Fonti’s Cheese Factory for cheese and yoghurt tasting, then on to the Chocolate Factory for a sweet treat. We then get serious with wine tastings at two of the best wineries before sitting down to a superb meal at Driftwood Estate Restaurant. After lunch we visit another winery for an afternoon wine tasting and take a look at some local pottery before we head off for an ice cream at Simmo’s. We then head back to Bunbury taking the scenic route through the Ludlow Tuart Forest.

Half Day Tours (Minimum Number: 12 Maximum Number: 44)

Golf & Dolphins Tour $66.50 per person

Departs 7.45 am, returns approximately 12.45 pm

Take an early start with a round of 9 holes at the Sanctuary Golf Resort for tee off at 8.15 am. Then take a well earned morning tea before taking to Koombana Bay with an ocean cruise with Naturaliste Charters to see the wild bottlenose dolphins. Visit the Dolphin Discovery Interpretation Centre. Club and cart hire available for extra cost.

Ferguson Valley Wine Tour $47.50 per person

Departs 1.30 pm, returns approximately 5.00 pm

Travel in air-conditioned comfort with Ultimate Tours to three of the best wineries in the Bunbury and Geographe wine region. Sit back, relax and sample some of the best W.A. wines from the Ferguson Valley and Capel regions. Take in some of the natural sights and places of interest throughout the day such as the King Jarrah Tree and Wellington Mill. There’s also a stop for a lazy afternoon tea at one of the wineries.

Progressive Vineyard Lunch in the Margaret River Wine Region

(Please book both wineries and indicate whether for lunch or dessert)

Entrée and main course at the Flutes of Brookland Valley vineyard followed by dessert and stickies at the Vasse Felix Winery.

Be a winemaker for a day at Amberley Estate (ph 9755 2288)

Approx. cost $100 (Minimum Number: 15)

An opportunity to blend your own wine under the guidance of one of Amberley Estate’s winemakers. Included in the price is a three course meal and wine. At the end of your meal you will be presented with a bottle of wine, labelled with your name and individual blend, that is yours to take home.
